Visual impressions for Ubuntu

Visual impressions are a great way to advertise a new design or product ahead of time. And in architecture it’s the most commenly used method to show off a new design to the public and give insight into the inner workings and ambience of a building or location.

In this case Ubuntu had plans to open a new establishment and they wanted to show their future guests what to expect stylistically. Through a mutual friend I got a chance to get on board this project.

Our job was to produce a number of said visual impressions. While they can be perfectly drawn in 2D (and sometimes that can be the better choice) we decided to go for a 3D model. Using the acquired groundplans to get the dimensions right and accurately show what it was going to look and feel like. It’s a great way to show a lot of depth and play around with interesting viewing angles before deciding on the final renders.
